Best Low Sodium Foods
to Nourish the Body

You inevitably keep your body fit and strong nourishing it with the best low sodium foods when you eat according to the principles of plant-based nutrition.

Mankind has used salt throughout the centuries to preserve and season food.

Salt is therefore inherently good.

The medical profession knows this only too well.

Have you ever wondered why upon being hospitalized, they would intravenously feed you a good dose of salt diluted in distilled water?

The problem is the over-consumption of the white refined dimineralized salt found in manufactured foods and the common table salts in our homes and dining places.

So what are the best low sodium foods to eat?

Fresh fruits and vegetables, wholesome grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and tubers.

Nature manufactures these foods for us with the synergies of all their phytochemicals intact in a perfected balance and order.

They are sun ripened and energized. No need for preservatives, additives or flavorings – none of the chemicals characteristic of refined processed foods.

You can then blend in culinary herbs and spices with your dishes. Cinnamon, nutmeg, garlic, ginger, cayenne, turmeric, fenugreek, cumin, rosemary and cilantro are some of my favorites. Sea vegetables like kombu, kelp and nori will augment the exotic flavors of your foods.

Any type of fruit and some raw vegetables are good ideas for low sodium snacks. And remember the option of freshly juicing fruits and vegetables for liquid green foods and smoothies!

Ground flax seeds are low in sodium and are an excellent source of Omega-3 fats. Add flax seeds to your smoothies, shakes, salads, cereals or soups.

Beans are a great source of protein. Just remember to cook them without salt. Instead use sea vegetables and culinary herbs.

Become familiar with low-salt foods. Get a good low-sodium cookbook and replace your customary table salt with a top quality sea salt that you should sparingly use.

Plant-based whole foods have a naturally occurring balance of alkaline minerals like sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium that are supportive of healthy blood pressure levels. They are indeed the best low sodium foods for your health to keep you healthy, fit and strong and aid your body with substantial nutrients to even reverse disease!

Best Low Sodium Foods: Sodium Deficiency

Sodium is an alkaline mineral that helps maintain proper blood pH and works in tandem with potassium to control the body’s water balance. We can be consuming so much dimineralized table salt on a daily basis yet inadequate amounts of needed alkaline sodium.

Sodium deficiency is not common but can occur during prolonged exercise, due to heavy losses through perspiration and in high temperature conditions. The body can incur significant sodium losses also via your urine, impaired kidney function, vomiting and diarrhea.

Some indications of sodium deficiency include: cramps, muscular weakness, fatigue, nausea and dehydration.

Yet when your diet predominantly consists of plant-based whole foods, general health problems and diseases eventually go away. These are qualitative foods, highly nutritional and naturally medicinal. Your food becomes your medicine, and your medicine is your food.

This is the healthiest way of eating and the most effective means of supporting your body with the best low sodium foods.
